Q: Is It painful?
A: You may feel a tingling or stinging sensation during treatment. Most patients tolerate this very well without the need for anesthetic. Certain areas on the body are more sensitive to the laser and a topical anesthetic can be applied to these regions to decrease the discomfort even further.
Q: How Many Treatments Are Required?
A: The SLP 1000 laser works by disrupting hairs that are in the active phase of growth at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter the growth phase at different times, additional treatments will be necessary to disable all hair follicles in a given area. Treatments are usually given at intervals of approximately 4-6 weeks, or whenever new hair growth is first noticed. Many patients are completely satisfied with their results after only one or two treatments, while others will need four or five treatments.
Q: Are The Results Permanent?
A: We are very happy to announce that the FDA has recently authorized users of the Palomar SLP 1000 system to use the word "PERMANENT" as it pertains to the amount of hair loss in treated areas. This decision was not made lightly, and only after years of reviewing statistical scientific data on the results obtained with the SLP 1000 system. This is a claim very few other lasers in the world are allowed to use regarding hair removal.
Q: What Happens After Treatment?
A: Within several minutes, the treated area may become slightly red and puffy. This reaction subsides quickly and within a day or so the areas return to normal. Patients often describe the sensation of a mild sunburn for the first day or so. Since the SLP 1000 laser does not cut the skin, bandages are not necessary and most people return to normal activity immediately. You should not, however, plan any important social engagements during the first several days after your treatment, especially if the treated areas are on the face.
Your doctor may prescribe a mild topical steroid cream to apply to the treated areas for 2-3 days following treatment. Around 3-10 days after treatment you may experience what seems to be hairs re-growing. Most of these hairs, however, are dead, treated hairs that are being shed and are not regrowing. In between treatments you should not wax or pluck your hairs because this decreases the ability of the laser to destroy actively growing hairs.
Q: Who Is A Good Candidate For Laser Hair Removal?
A: The SLP 1000 technology is so effective, it permits the treatment of ALL skin types, even TANNED skin.
Q: What Special Instructions Are Necessary After Treatment?
A: Do not apply any products on the treated areas of your skin, except sunscreen of you will be outside. Avoid Retin-A, alpha-hydroxy acids, glycolic acids, astringents etc. You may wash gently with soap and water, but do not rub or scrub the area. Your doctor may prescribe a topical steroid cream to apply to the treatment area. Please use this medicine only as directed.
Do not expose treatment areas to direct sunlight. Do not use tanning beds at any time during your treatment intervals with this laser. Wear a sunscreen daily if the areas to be treated will be exposed to sunlight.
3-7 days after treatment some of the hairs may seem to be re-growing. This occurs due to elimination of the hair that remained under the skin and is not true growth of the hair.
Do not wax or pluck any hairs between treatment sessions.
Do not pick or manipulate the skin in the treatment areas.

2. For the first two days after application it is best to avoid swimming, saunas or steam rooms.

4. We recommend you only use a water-based mascara of your preference.
5. We recommend you come back for application within 3-4 weeks to replace any fallen or outgrown lashes Do not use waterproof mascara or mascara remover.
6. Do not Use an eyelash curler, perm, or tint your eye lash extensions.

Q: How many treatments are required?
A: Typically 2 treatment sessions are required and these are placed one or more weeks apart. Truly professional artistic implantation takes time and several steps to achieve the final results. Pigments are mixed to closely match the natural skin tone or hair color. Darker color can always be increased during subsequent visits. The creation of a natural hair pattern such as in the eyebrows requires the expertise of an experienced pigment specialist.
Q: What happens after treatment?
A: The treated area should be kept clean, but not scrubbed. Excess pigment on the skin surface will be shed without disturbing the implanted pigment. The skin returns to normal the next day.
Q: Is the procedure painful?
A: There is very mild discomfort during the treatment session, which can be easily prevented with the application of topical and/or local anesthesia. The procedure is usually done in the office setting often with the use of magnification to provide precise placement of the pigment.
Q: Is permanent make-up harmful?
A: No, it is exceptionally safe when performed by a qualified pigment specialist. Strong colors are usually avoided except in special circumstances as they often go out of style quickly. Remember that this is an extended wear permanent procedure, which is designed to look natural. It is intended to enhance the lash lines, brows and lips without replacing the ability to use make-up.

However, it is important to know that there are many, types of tattoo inks in use worldwide today, none of which are regulated by the FDA. Not knowing which tattoo ink was used, or how deeply it was applied, makes it impossible of us to predict the degree of removal on any given tattoo.
Q: What type of post-treatment care is necessary?
A: Occasionally, there will be pinpoint bleeding associated with the treatment. The treated area should be kept clean. A shower can be taken the next day, although the treatment area should never be scrubbed. If a scab forms it is vital that you do not pick it or scratch it.
Q: How many treatments will it take to remove a tattoo?
A: On the average, professional tattoos require 6-8 treatments, while amateur tattoos require 4-5 treatments, all spaces approximately 6-8 weeks, apart. The number of treatments depends on the amount and type of ink used, and the depth of the ink in the skin.
Q: Do all colors of ink disappear as well?
A: Dark (blue, black) and red inks will resolve the best. Oranges and purples usually fade as well. Green and yellow inks are the most difficult to remove, and additional treatments are needed to produce significant fading.
Q: Is the process painful?
A: The laser emits light in very short pulses. The impact of the energy from the powerful pulse of light is similar to the snap of a small rubber band on the skin. The majority of patients do not require anesthesia.

Q: What Is Cellulite?
A: The term cellulite simply describes a pitting, bulging, and deformation of the skin caused by the over-inflation of fat cells from an increase in fat storage. Cellulite usually appears on the thighs, buttocks, abdomen, calves, and arms, and is most common in women because their fat cells reside closer to the surface. Genetics and insufficient water intake can also contribute to cellulite development. More than 80% of women over the age of 20 years, regardless of their weight or size, are affected by cellulite. Over the years different techniques have been used to try to improve cellulite. These have included a variety of creams and lotions that promise a reduction in the appearance of cellulite, but generally have led to less than satisfactory results. Surgical removal has also not proved to be a popular approach. Newer methods, involving the use of lasers and laser-like technologies, such as the VelaSmooth and others, represent non-invasive non-surgical methods of reducing cellulite and re-contouring the body to look smoother and firmer.
Q: What Happens During Laser Cellulite Treatment?
A: During the procedure, the targeted cellulite fat cells are heated below the surface of the skin. This heat promotes better circulation to the local area, which may allow for more oxygen exchange for increased fat cell metabolism. Following the delivery of heat, today's cellulite technology provides a vacuum action with deep tissue massage to the treated area. This approach both mobilizes fat while at the same time stimulating the formation of new collagen.
Q: What Will The Treatments Feel Like?
A: During the treatment you will feel a deep, soothing heat in the targeted area. The treatment can be compared to the feeling of the sensation of finishing an intense workout or having a deep tissue massage.
