Is Sclerotherapy Right For Me? 
A consultation is necessary to determine if you are a candidate for sclerotherapy.

Pregnant women are not eligible for this procedure and veins that may be used for heart bypass surgery in the future will usually not be considered. A consultation is required prior to scheduling any treatment.

How Is Sclerotherapy Administered? 
A solution is usually injected directly into the vein, at which point there may be some mild discomfort and cramping. The procedure itself takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the condition of the patient as well as the location and size of the veins. You should not participate in any serious physical activity for several days after the procedure.

Prior To My Procedure
Certain medications should be avoided before the procedure; talk to your primary care physician about all medicines you may be taking (including over the counter drugs and dietary supplements).

Side Effects
You may experience certain side effects such as itching; this should, however, subside after a week or two. Raised, red areas at the injection site should be gone within a few days and any bruising should be gone within one to two weeks. While unlikely, other side effects may include brown lines, spots or new tiny blood vessels at the vein site, and larger veins that may become lumpy and hard; in most cases, these will disappear within three to six months
