BioTe Hormone Therapy

What are Bioidentical Hormones?

Bioidentical hormones are a way for our patients to battle the effects of endocrine changes as they age. Menopause in women is one of the most well-known of these biological processes. However, there is another common condition known as andropause. Not only can andropause cause symptoms in both women and men, but it can also affect younger patients, as early as their 30s. Over time, the condition can worsen and symptoms can become more aggressive. We can also assess thyroid hormone levels and other markers in the human body that can be adjusted back to normal.

BioTe Hormone Therapy is performed by Dr. Klesaris who is a restorative medical expert.

What is BioTE Hormone Therapy?

BioTE hormone therapy is a form of bioidentical pellet hormone replacement that safely and effectively manages the symptom of hormone imbalance. Dr. Klesaris inserts tiny pellet implants under the skin, where they gradually dissolve as they release small doses of hormones to meet the body’s physiological needs.

Who Can Benefit from BioTE Hormone Pellet Therapy?

Because BioTE is carefully crafted using completely natural substances, this treatment can be ideal for adults of all ages who are interested in optimizing their hormones without synthetic substances.

Candidates for hormone pellet therapy are typically experiencing at least one significant symptom of hormone imbalance. While a large number of patients are middle-aged, hormone pellet therapy can also correct hormone imbalances caused by early menopause, hysterectomy, and other conditions.

Is Bioidentical Hormone Therapy Right For Me?

We will order a variety of labs to assess your endocrine system and hormonal state, as well as take a detailed history and perform a targeted physical exam. Our expert practitioners have practiced in this area of BHRT, diabetes, weight management, and vitamin supplementation for many years.

What are BioTE Hormones Made Of?

BioTE hormone pellets are made of all-natural plant derivatives containing estrogen and testosterone. They are made by a compounding pharmacist using strict federal guidelines for safety and efficacy. Carefully formulated with consistent doses of estrogen or testosterone, each pellet mimics the actions of healthy ovaries or testicles in terms of hormone “production.”

How does BioTE Hormone Pellet Therapy Work?

BioTE hormone pellet therapy is a minor procedure that is easily performed in our office. Dr. Klesaris administers a local injection of anesthetic into the upper, outer buttock. Tissue numbs quickly after one or two injections. She then makes a tiny nick in the skin and uses a small instrument to insert an appropriate number of pellets into subcutaneous tissue.

Each pellet is smaller than a grain of rice, so can be easily inserted into this area, where necessary hormones are absorbed as the body requires. Every patient’s hormone optimization is unique. However, hormone pellets generally begin working in 7 to 10 days. This means that, from that time, the pellets release a consistent dose of bioidentical hormones for absorption into the bloodstream. Some patients begin to notice a difference in symptoms in 2 to 4 weeks. Full optimization can take approximately 6 months.

What are the benefits of BioTE?

People of often surprised when they realize how many of their physical complaints can be traced to hormone imbalance. BioTE is beneficial because this system is simple, safe, and effective. Within a few weeks, patients may enjoy better sleep, better mental focus, more energy, increased libido, and other physical improvements. Additionally, BioTE is a “set-it-and-forget-it” type of treatment. There are no pills to remember to take or cream to apply. Once implants are inserted, they continually release hormones at a steady rate until they fully dissolve. This delivery method prevents highs and lows based on surges in hormone release, which means fewer side effects.

The insertion of hormone pellets is convenient and comfortable. Patients can expect to return to most normal activities immediately after their appointment. The treatment area is covered with a bandage for approximately one week but this should not inhibit comfortable movement.

One of the most significant benefits of BioTE hormone pellet therapy is that the hormones used to make pellets are bioidentical. They behave similarly to the hormones made by the body. They can do this because they are structurally the same as human hormones. Patients appreciate that the hormones in BioTE pellets are derived from plant sources, not equine sources.

How Long Does Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy Take?

For male patients, our doctor usually recommends four to six months. Therapy for female patients is slightly shorter, usually three to five months.

Are there any side effects of BioTE bio-identical hormone replacement therapy?

In Men

During the first two rounds of hormone pellet therapy, men may experience minor side effects such as testicular shrinkage, increased hair growth, acne, or mild fluid retention. These are considered normal and should be temporary.

In Women

Women treated with hormone pellets may notice temporary swelling or fluid retention. If a woman still has her uterus, she may experience minor spotting if treated with estrogen pellets. This side effect may be managed with progesterone, an oral hormone supplement that is taken in the evening with food. Additional side effects include acne and hair growth, both of which can be easily treated.
