Understanding how Botox works
Botox is an injectable neuromodulator that is formulated with an ingredient called botulinium toxin type A. This medication is used to reduce muscle contractions where it is injected. By doing this, it can smooth the skin above. When patients have Botox injected into specific muscles of the face, they can target dynamic wrinkles that have developed over time. Dr. Jennifer Walden and her team find that Botox injections are best suited for patients who need to treat areas such as:
- The glabellar lines
- The forehead folds
- Crow’s feet
When patients have these injections completed in the office, they will notice over the course of several days how smooth their skin becomes. Botox then maintains the results for approximately six months before patients may require reinjection. Dr. Jennifer Walden also advises patients as to the benefits of integrating other injectable treatments together for a “liquid facelift.” Patients can completely avoid plastic surgery with regular use of cosmetic injectables available at our practice.
Is Botox safe?
Botox has been used for many years in helping patients achieve a youthful appearance, and the formula is approved by the FDA for safe and effective use in anti-aging treatments. Patients are welcome to ask questions to our team during their visit so they feel comfortable in having their injections done.
