If you are looking for a cosmetic treatment to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and reduce the formation of other lines on your face, our aesthetic experts may recommend BOTOX® Cosmetic. BOTOX can also be used for a number of other medical purposes. Based on your specific needs, we may suggest BOTOX to reduce migraine headaches, TMJ muscle spasm, or to lessen excessive sweating of the underarms and palms of the hands.

How Does BOTOX Work?
BOTOX is a cosmetic injectable that works by temporarily (usually 3-4 months) freezing your facial muscles to improve your appearance. This works by weakening or temporarily freezing the muscles into which it is injected. When these muscles cannot move, the wrinkles on your skin are reduced. This cosmetic treatment is excellent for reducing the furrows between the brows (“the elevens”), as well as crows’ feet (the lines at the corners of the eyes when you smile and squint).
This procedure can also reduce the neck bands (platysmal bands) that occur with age. As well as the vertical lines that appear around the mouth, especially when you “pucker” your face.
What are the benefits of BOTOX?
Botox is an attractive treatment option for adults who want to prevent or correct certain signs of aging, those that are caused by various facial movements. Some of the reasons for this include the following benefits:
- Botox treatments take less than half an hour.
- Small needle size eliminates the need for local anesthetic or numbing cream.
- Results appear gradually over 5 to 7 days.
- Improvements achieved with Botox can last from 3 to 6 months. Most patients schedule touch-ups about every 4 months.
- Botox has been thoroughly tested and vetted for safety and efficacy.
How Safe Is BOTOX Cosmetic?
BOTOX is very safe when injected by experienced physicians, such as our BOTOX experts at Skintology Medical Spa. Dr. Jennifer Walden is proud to be a black diamond level BOTOX provider, the highest tier status. Her team of amazing and talented injectors will evaluate you and recommend what is best for you before the treatment.
Who are the ideal candidates for BOTOX?
Many adults can be good candidates for Botox injections. Ideal candidates are in good general health and do not have skin inflammation or infection in the treatment area. Botox is suitable for what are called dynamic wrinkles, those that are caused by moving the muscles around the eyes, forehead, and mouth. Examples include frown lines and crow’s feet. Botox is not appropriate for women who are pregnant or nursing.
How Long Until I See Results From Botox?
You should see results within a few days of your initial treatment. You will likely see results two to four days after injection, with the maximum effect occurring at about 10-14 days and lasting for up to three months. Over time, results can be maintained with continued injections.
How Long Do Botox Injections Take?
The actual injection process takes about 10 minutes, perfect for a busy individual.
What is the recovery from Botox?
No downtime is needed to recover from Botox injections. Most patients return to work or other normal activities immediately after their appointment with us. To keep Botox from diffusing farther than we’d like, patients are advised to postpone working out for 12 to 24 hours after receiving injections. The treatment area should also not be rubbed or massaged for a short time.
How Long Do The Results of BOTOX Last?
You can expect the results of your treatment to last up to three months.
"If I could give 10 stars I would. I had my Botox done by Isis and she was AMAZING, I could not be happier!!!! She was so thorough and gave a wonderful assessment of exactly what my needs were. I went back a week later to have Dermaplaning done by Lola and I loved the results. She was patient and answered all my questions. I will definitely go to Skintology for all my beauty needs!!!"- Stacey D.G
Are There Any Side Effects?
BOTOX rarely has any side effects. The vast majority of patients can receive this treatment without complication. Possible side effects include dry mouth, discomfort or pain at the injection site. In addition to some tiredness, headache, neck pain, eye problems, and allergic reactions.
Is Botox painful?
One of the best things about Botox injections is that they are comfortable! Patients who are concerned about tolerance are welcomed to speak with our staff about ways to promote ultimate comfort. However, most patients do just fine without any special comfort measures. This is because the needle that is used to administer the product is very small. Injections feel like tiny pinches or pin-pricks, slightly noticeable but not painful.
How much does Botox cost?
Botox treatment is customized to each patient. Cost is determined by the amount of product needed to achieve the desired outcome. Additionally, some patients combine Botox with injections of dermal fillers to reach a more significant level of rejuvenation. If you are interested in injectable treatment for facial rejuvenation, schedule a consultation with us. After evaluating your needs and the current condition of your skin, we can provide you with a detailed cost breakdown for Botox with or without adjunctive techniques.
Is Botox covered by insurance?
Botox Cosmetic is an elective treatment that is not covered by insurance. We are happy to accept a variety of payments for this and other services, including credit card and Care Credit.
How Can I Prepare for My Botox appointment?
There is very little to do to prepare for Botox injections. Patients are encouraged to avoid medications or supplements that have a blood-thinning effect. Examples include aspirin and vitamin E. Alcohol also thins the blood so it should be avoided for 12 to 24 hours before your Botox appointment.
