AUSTIN PLASTIC SURGEON JENNIFER WALDEN, MD, NAMED NEW PRESIDENT OF THE AESTHETIC SOCIETY
Dr. Walden elected as first female Aesthetic Society President in Organization’s 55 years; Board Members Elected at The Aesthetic Meeting 2022 in San Diego.
It’s an exciting time at Skintology MedSpa by Dr. Jennifer Walden, as we celebrate our fearless leader and Medical Director, Dr. Walden, being elected to the position of the first female President of the Aesthetic Society!
This past weekend, in San Diego Convention Center, history was made! We are infinitely proud of Dr. Walden for her achievements and are honored to work with such an inspiring trailblazer.
In a statement released by the The Aesthetic Society, on April 25, 2022, Dr. Walden explained “I am looking forward to serving The Aesthetic Society as its first female president. Born in 1971, I believe it was Title IX1 that set the stage for me as a young girl. I was able to play sports like the boys did and developed an appreciation for competition, teamwork, victory, and defeat— with all the lessons learned therein.”
This year marked the 55th anniversary of The Aesthetic Society, and the 50th anniversary of Title IX that leveled the playing field in the classroom between men and women. The Aesthetic Society is a group of the most advanced board certified aesthetic plastic surgeons, devoted entirely to aesthetic plastic surgery and cosmetic medicine of the face and body. The Aesthetic Society is at the forefront of innovation in aesthetic plastic surgery and cosmetic medicine globally.
As Dr. Walden steps into her newfound role, she and her leadership team will focus on advancing The Aesthetic Society’s global relationships, as well as its diversity and inclusion. Dr Walden noted that “nearly 54% of American medical students are women2” and she looks forward to “preserving its culture of meritocracy while inspiring others who may think they don’t have access. Becoming the first female president is a fantastic achievement, but what matters most is that I am a board-certified aesthetic surgeon who will work to advance The Aesthetic Society into the future.”
Dr. Walden has been an active member of The Aesthetic Society for 15 years and has served on the Executive Committee and as Commissioner of the Communications Commission. She also has participated in numerous Society committees and has served as the Chair of the Media Relations Committee, Chair of the Aesthetic Neural Network Task Force, as a Traveling Professor, on Rebranding Task Force, The Women Aesthetic Surgeons Committee, and many more.
