Dark Spot Removal with Light-Based Technology

Our practice offers laser and light-based technology for dark spot removal to even out your skin tone and remove the brown patches and spots. Dark spots are also known as sunspots or age spots, and usually appear after you have spent time in the sun, with age, or just have a genetic predisposition.  Hormones such as estrogen also play a role in melanin deposition and a condition of pigmentation known as melasma.  Skintology MedSpa by Dr. Jennifer Walden uses an advanced laser to erase your dark spots by re-energizing the darker-pigmented areas of your skin. Call us today at (212) 832-2225 to make your appointment and learn more about dark spot removal in New York, NY. Your dark spot removal session will last 15-25 minutes in total. Our laser technician will begin by applying a cooling gel to your skin, after which a series of pulses from the laser will be directed into your skin.

Prior to receiving a dark spot removal treatment, you should:

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning for several days
  • Do not take antibiotics or Accutane for at least three weeks before your session
  • Do not apply makeup or lotion on the area the day of treatment

After your session you skin may appear slightly red in the treated area. Keep the area clean, and be sure to use sunblock with a minimum of 30 SPF daily.  Our skin care specialists may also recommend products with lightening elements in them to take home and use to continue to lighten the areas.
