Skintology’s Top Tips for Good Clean Skin

Here Are Our 8 Top Tips for Good Clean Skin at Skintology

1. Wash your face twice a day.

Don’t “forget” to take your makeup off after a long day. That’s no excuse.

My view is that for every minute I spend putting on my makeup in the morning, I spend double that time taking it off at night. Cleanse, Tone and Rinse your face in lukewarm water. Cup and fill your hands with cool water and gently pump it over your closed eyes. They need that extra moisture!

Remember that your skin is a living organ and needs daily maintenance.

2. Sanitize your devices.

You may not think of it as the most important tip for keeping your skin clean and acne free, however, there are 18X more harmful bacteria on your phone screen right now than there are in a public restroom. Grab the sanitizer, quick!! Another tip is to use your headphones if you’re talking on the phone to limit the contact between all the harmful bacteria on the device and your beautiful face.

3. Stop touching your face!

You touch everything in plain sight, but you cannot see the microscopic bacteria that live on every surface. If you tend to lean your cheek/chin on your hand or if you just have a fascination with feeling your face and fiddling with your eyelashes – Resist the urge! Learn to control your hand movement. You will seriously thank us for this one!

4. Invest in your Skin.

When it comes to skincare, quality is key. Don’t spend little and often. Go to your dermatologist and get unbiased advice about a range that will boost your collagen production, enhance elasticity and regain moisturize. Invest in products suited to your specific skin type. If you buy a product on the high street at a low price, how can you be sure that the best ingredients are used to formulate that product? Do you know exactly what all those complicated words on the label actually mean? It might be hazardous without you even realizing, it may not even have been produced in a professional laboratory! Remember also, just because you see your favorite influencer/celebrity recommended something, doesn’t mean it will work for you!

5. Go for a facial.

Professionally advising, it is recommended to get a facial once a month. What harm can it do to take an hour out of your monthly schedule to relax with us at Skintology? Can you believe that you’ve been neglecting your skin all this time? Each facial is customizable to the specific client’s skin, with relaxing music, aesthetically pleasing treatment room, aromatherapy and calming and professional technicians we are here to help you de-stress! By ridding yourself of all the stress, you’re waving bye-bye to blackheads, whiteheads, excessive oil and investing in your skin! I think of my monthly facial as paying my rent for my skin. Take care of it now and I’ll have a lovely ‘home’ when I’m older!

6. Water can be fun!

This is the most obvious and world-renowned part of the skincare regimen! Health professionals recommend 8 eight-ounce glasses per day (half a gallon), however, if you struggle with drinking this much water, try adding a lemon-lime, or even a little dash of pomegranate juice. Make it fun, and make it tasty. This will make it easier, trust us!

7. Change your Pillowcase Regularly.

Change your pillowcase at least once a week. Can you imagine how many dead skin cells and make-up residue is trapped in yours? At Skintology, we love the luxury of a silk pillowcase and would highly recommend to any skincare fanatics out there that this should be a high priority. Silk surfaces reduce friction between your skin and the pillow which results in much less irritation, fewer blemishes, fewer blackheads, and less of a chance of waking up to a surprise Mount Everest on your visage.

8. Eat Clean!

This is a given, but we are what we eat. Don’t expect to have good clean, healthy and tight skin if you don’t eat healthily. Learn what ingredients are in your meals and have an eating routine, for morning, lunch and dinner. Lastly, learn what portion sizes are correct. Are you really surprised that you have a double chin and sagging skin if you’re accidentally overeating every mealtime? This will have a remarkable impact on the skin all over your body, not just your face.
